Turner v. Basic Energy, et al.
Justin Turner was the 26-year-old father of two small children who was killed when the workover rig he was working on collapsed, causing him to fall more than 60 feet to the ground below. Our attorneys successfully litigated a case against each of the six companies involved in the accident resulting pre-trial resolution with five defendants and a jury verdict in excess of $22,000,000.00 against the sixth one.
The Estate of Cynthia Coffey v. Wyeth
Rick Laminack, Tom Pirtle and Buffy Martines were central figures in the successful battle for the nation's largest personal injury award in history (at the time of the award). The case involved a mother of 3 young daughters who took a diet drug that was proven to have caused her primary pulmonary hypertension. The case was against one of the nation's largest pharmaceutical companies, and involved a myriad of complex legal issues that highlighted our talents as trial lawyers. The trial lasted a full month. The jury verdict was unanimous, and generated national attention.
Wellogix, Inc. v Accenture, LLP
Plaintiff Wellogix, Inc., a Houston-based software developer entered into various business agreements to market its products. Those products, including computer software and other intellectual property used in the accounting management of various drilling processes, were subsequently misappropriated by Wellogix's business partners. Laminack, Pirtle & Martines successfully represented Wellogix in a theft of trade secrets case. After a two week trial, a jury of twelve men and women awarded damages to Wellogix in excess of $94,000,000.00.
Successful Settlement of Maritime/Admiralty Cases
Two employees of an offshore drilling company were injured while working aboard a drilling platform located in the Gulf of Mexico. The two men fell more than 40 feet when one of the platform's elevators suffered a catastrophic failure. After conducting lengthy discovery in the case, Laminack, Pirtle & Martines was able to resolve the case prior to trial allowing both men to be compensated for their very serious injuries.

Premises Liability and Wrongful Death
A 60-year-old husband and father suffered fatal injuries after his car went over the edge of a defectively designed and maintained parking garage. Ten days into trial the owners and operators of the garage settled the case with our law firm and the surviving widow and daughter.
