Our History

We are not your typical law firm.

Laminack, Pirtle & Martines stands out as a unique law firm, distinguished by the family-like bond that unites our entire LPM team. This strong sense of unity traces its roots back to our firm's founding partners and the intertwined paths of their careers.

The late Rick Laminack embarked on his legal journey in 1987 following his graduation, second in his class, from South Texas College of Law - Houston. In 1989, he welcomed Tom Pirtle, another South Texas graduate into the fold as his law clerk, and later named partner. In 2002, Rick and Tom expanded their team by bringing Buffy Martines on board after her graduation from South Texas. Four years later, these three trial lawyers went out on their own and formed LPM. With their shared history and having dedicated their entire careers to one another, they built a law firm where their unwavering commitment to each other seamlessly extends to our clients.

LPM Firm Asscociates

100% Trial Lawyers

The LPM family continued to expand as we recruited more talented attorneys and embraced new cases. Among our many victories over the years, one case in particular stands out as a defining moment. Beginning in 2009, we had the opportunity to represent a Houston-based software developer in a case against a tech giant accused of theft of trade secrets. It was, without a doubt, a classic "David vs. Goliath" scenario. Following a two-week trial, a jury of twelve individuals awarded Wellogix damages exceeding $94,000,000.00. The verdict was  affirmed by both the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court and was the second-largest jury award in Texas in 2011. This landmark verdict not only left an indelible mark on the Texas legal landscape but also showcased the remarkable capabilities of our tight-knit and dedicated legal team.

We promise a total commitment to fighting for compensation for victims of negligence.

Over the years LPM has continued to thrive, securing billions in settlements and verdicts for our clients. We have garnered recognition nationwide by taking on formidable adversaries, including pharmaceutical giants and medical device manufacturers. Simultaneously, we have built a reputation for handling single-incident cases ranging from motor vehicle accidents to workplace incidents and premises liability matters.

The passing of Rick Laminack in 2023 has had a profound impact on the entire LPM family. Now, more than ever, we move forward, carrying Rick's legacy. In his own words, "Whether a case is large or small, we treat each client with the attitude that theirs is the most important case we will ever try."
