On December 18, 2025, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it had received safety data on the use of Andexxa, which showed a doubling of the risk of developing thrombosis and a doubling in the number of patients who died during 30 days of treatment.
Andexxa was removed from the market on December 22, 2025, after the FDA determined that the risks of the product outweighed its benefits.
A study published in May 2024 in the New England Journal of Medicine found that the use of Andexxa in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage “was associated with thrombotic events, including ischemic stroke.”
